A Better Choice: Natural Sweeteners

Got a sweet-tooth? Eating natural foods doesn't have to be without an occasional treat. Experiment with these alternative sweeteners found commonly in health food stores.

  • Barley Malt Syrup
  • Blackstrap Molasses
  • Brown Rice Syrup
  • Date Sugar
  • Evaporated White Grape Juice and Brown Rice Syrup
  • Evaporated Whole Cane Juice (Rapadura, Sucanat)
  • Honey
  • Maple Syrup
  • Maple Syrup Granules (Maple Sugar)
  • Date Sugar
  • Mixed Fruit Juice Concentrate
  • Stevia

  2. Don't forget about agave nectar! It's fairly reasonable in price and tastes great in tea or as a sugar substitute for baking.

Robin, I've switched from regular honey to raw honey...dropped my morning shots of java and replaced it with hot water, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and raw honey...then added raw coconut butter to my daily routine in a variety of ways ..have not experienced any aches, pains, headaches, etc in weeks. Susan

    Thanks for the info about your natural healthy Java exchange.
    By the way I only use raw honey. I've added organic coconut oil to my diet and use it for my dogs.
